Each mushroom page tells you what it is for, how to grow the block, and how to use what you pick — food or tea.

Common questions

What is the difference between a mushroom grow kit and a grow block?

Harmonix sells a living fruiting block — one species on organic hardwood. You fruit it at home. It is not a garden kit and not a capsule blend.

Can I grow mushrooms on a kitchen counter?

Yes. No grow tent. A counter, the spray bottle in the box, and the steps on the product page.

Are Harmonix grow blocks already colonized?

Yes. Fully colonized, ready to fruit. You are not starting from spores. Open the box, cut the bag, spray, wait for pins.

How long does a mushroom grow block take?

Most culinary blocks (oyster, lion’s mane, shiitake) pin in about 1–3 weeks if you cut the bag and keep it misted. Reishi and turkey tail take longer. Chaga is months, not days. Each product page has that species’ timeline.

Why grow instead of buying a pill?

A Harmonix block is a real mushroom you grow yourself. You see it, you cook it or make tea, and you are not paying for powder you cannot see. Pills are easy. This is the actual mushroom.

Are these medicines?

No. These are foods and teas. Lion’s mane, reishi, turkey tail, shiitake, and chaga have long wellness histories — but Harmonix does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Talk with a doctor if you use mushrooms as part of a health plan.

Which mushroom should I start with?

For a first harvest this week: Italian oyster if the kitchen is warm, or blue oyster / Winter White if it is cool. Golden oyster when that block is back. For night tea: reishi. For weekly cooking: an oyster, pioppino, or king trumpet. The full map is the Which mushroom page — pick the job, then pick the mushroom.

Do I need a grow tent?

No. A counter, a spray bottle, and the product page. Extra gear can help later. Beginners should not buy it first.

Why is chaga slower and more expensive?

Chaga does not make a normal cap mushroom. You are growing tea over months. We will not promise a 7-day chaga harvest.

Is Trail of Tears a psychedelic mushroom?

No. It is a dark cooking oyster. Food.

What’s the difference between a grow block and freeze-dried?

The block is alive. You grow it at home. Freeze-dried is the same mushroom, grown on our farm, dried here in Carthage. You cook it, or make tea. No spraying. Still one kind of mushroom — not a mix.

How much is shipping?

You pay shipping at checkout. Grow blocks ship fast because they are alive. Freeze-dried jars ship standard, which costs less. Orders of $150 or more ship free. We pack live blocks Monday–Wednesday.
